3-8. June 2012

The already 14th Junior Eco-Expert Project titled "Energy and the Environment" takes place at our secondary technical school in the term of 3rd to 8th June 2012. 60 students chosen from the partner schools and students of the 3rd grade of the Nature Science Lyceum of our school are going to participate in the project. The communication language is English as usual. The participating students will be divided into 5 groups based on their chosen topic of study. These topics are:
  1. Monitoring of radiation in the vicinity of the Nuclear Power plant Temelín
  2. The impact of the Nuclear Power plant Temelín on the quality of surface waters
  3. Energy of the Sun
  4. Energy of biomass
  5. Energy of water
In the framework of the project, our school cooperates with the ČEZ Corporation that is going to lead a series of excursions to the nuclear power plant, supplement technical lectures to the discussed topics and enable monitoring of radiation in the neighborhood. The other cooperating organizations are The Povodí Vltavy Corporation enabling us the excursion to the small power plant "U Jezu" in Veselí nad Lužnicí, solar power station of ČEZ Corporation in Ševětín and the Drs Farm where the students are going to get familiar with a unique biogas station operating on solid phase.
Students are going to present the results of their work at the final conference which is going to take place in the House of Culture in Veselí nad Lužnicí. In the leisure time the participating students are going to play volleyball and engage in other culture-oriented activities.

Our school has acquired a 5000€ grant from the Visegrad Fund for carrying out the project.
